Dr Vu Tran is a Queensland-based technology founder, entrepreneur, and practicing General Practitioner, known for his grounded, purpose-driven approach to building organisations at scale.
Vu is the co-founder of Go1, Australia’s global edtech success story, born out of Logan and now valued at approximately US$2 billion, serving more than 5 million users worldwide. Go1 provides a single learning platform offering the world’s most comprehensive library of professional development content, enabling organisations to continuously upskill their workforce.
Alongside his work in technology, Vu continues to practice medicine, bringing more than a decade of frontline healthcare experience to his leadership and governance roles. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from Bond University and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), with clinical interests spanning paediatrics, chronic disease management, and preventative care.
Vu sits on the boards of PeopleIN, Australia’s largest ASX-listed talent and recruitment provider, and Metro South Health, one of the country’s largest public health services. He is deeply interested in how technology, workforce models, and continuous learning can create meaningful mobility and long-term career pathways for people across sectors.
In recent years, Vu has also turned his focus to defence technology, co-founding Black Sky Industries, a Queensland-based company developing sovereign rocket motor manufacturing capability and Australian-made guided weapons systems. His work uniquely bridges medicine, national security, workforce innovation, and entrepreneurship, with a strong commitment to building capability locally.
The son of Vietnamese refugees and a proud father of two, Vu credits his upbringing with shaping his belief in education, opportunity, and service. He also serves on the board of Sporting Wheelies, supporting people with disability to access sport, training, and community connection, and mentors emerging founders through programs including UQ Momentum, UNSW Defence Tech, and LuminaX Health.
